I have just heard that the local needs item next week in the UK is to be about a new arrangement for donating online. Details will be in the September announcements letter due out on Sept 3rd. Speculate at will!

does anyone know how uk jw's have been instructed to act on this point?
(following the eu's gdpr directives).
There has been nothing said yet. I've been mentioning that it is a potential issue.

i was just told there will be international conventions in canada in 2019. .
so i looked at jw.org and i see that there's a whole bunch of conventions now listed on the site for 2019.. isn't this odd?
normally we were told the location of conventions during the first week of january.. did they realize there was less in attendance in the 2018 conventions, and want to give ppl more time to make travel arrangements??
The last time there were international conventions like this, all of the "normal" ones were held simultaneously in the UK and had video feeds from London. It wouldn't surprise me if the same thing happens. It means conventions are held at different dates to normal, so advance notice means nobody can use the "I've already booked my holiday then" excuse.

the august monthly announcements letter, among other things, says that if a memorial is midweek, there is to be no midweek meeting and if at a weekend, then no weekend meeting.
previously it was only no other meeting on the same day.
is this because so many congregations now share halls that scheduling it has become almost impossible?.

I think it was 33 at Newcastle - looked like half of them were children.
i had to look at jw broadcasting today (aaaargh) and noticed it has had a bit of a makeover.
it is also now called jehovah's witnesses broadcasting.. sf.

hi - first some context - i have been pimo for about 20 years now and so have been to a lot of assemblies in that time.
last weekend i went to a circuit assembly and for the first time afterwards i was able to talk directly to someone who knows i'm out.
i realised then that although i didn't agree with any teachings (i sat picking holes in the arguements as usual) the experience of being there had affected me - the way of life started feeling normal as did the overall way of viewing the world.
Who says I haven't gone crazy! The first 2 years were the worst. The second two years were also the worst. After that I went into a bit of a decline.
Seriously, my advice for any PIMO is - find a real person (non-jw) who you can trust and talk to them. It is what keeps me going at the moment.
...and thanks for the many excellent posts on here, I'm going to spend some time re-reading them.

I have been deprogrammed (thank you PJT if you ever read this) but I think I must have been affected like this every time I have attended an assembly. I've read about this from others, but it's the first time I've experienced it personally and it has made me more aware of how subtle the mind control tactics are that are used.
Hopefully posting this here will compl;ete my recovery.

published today.
jehovah's witnesses accused of silencing victims of child abuse.
The UK version of the special talk given by Stephen Papps had a quote from the Guardian (not this one obviously) and stated where it was from, so the Guardian has been "approved".
